Friday: We Get Social and Eat Out Twice!
Friday was a very busy day for us. I’ve already covered our morning trip to the fish market here, and that came after breakfast, two loads of laundry and Cecile walking Joel to school. After the fish market our apartment agent came over to finish the official inspection which was quite detailed and took awhile.
Then it was time to pick up Joel from school and go out to lunch. We made it clear that going out for lunch twice in a week was not likely to be repeated. We made a return visit to the Wall Street cafe, just across the street from us and got some really healthy food.
After lunch it was back to the apartment for less than an hour before heading out to a colleague’s of Cecile who had invited us to their place for onces (Elevenses, even though here they have them at 5:00). It was Joel & my first time in a micro, the local buses that are privately run, and thus compete furiously for passengers. So I didn’t get any pictures, too busy holding on for dear life. Actually, in reviewing my camera roll, I did apparently take a picture, and here it is:
Katarina (she’s from Germany) & Carlos live well up Agua Sante, which is the main street we walk up to get to Joel’s school. So we got off the bus and then followed the directions back down to their house, which is lovely and has a fabulous view. Just for Joel, they also have three cats (sorry, no pictures) and a dog (video). We had a lovely time visiting, eating, and drinking and then it was time to come home. (Joel wasn’t feeling great, wait until you read that post, hopefully later today.) They suggested we could actually walk back, as it’s all downhill, if at times a little steep, and as it was a lovely evening we took them up on the offer to lead us back down.
Back Down Into the Heart of the City
It really was a fabulous walk, 30-40 minutes through a variety of neighborhoods. I’ll let the picture captions do the talking. So aside from this issue Joel’s facing (am I building the suspense nicely?) it was a lovely day. Even Joel liked the walk, he and I talked while Cecile visited with Katarina and it was quit nice. We got to talk about all sorts of things we never seem to have the time to do when there’s always something coming up. One of the benefits of a long walk, there’s nothing else to do but walk, look and talk.
Thanks for reading.
