Return of International Traveling Tech Travails: Revenge of the Hulu
I’m not saying it was just us, but I’m not saying it wasn’t just us either.
We had fallen rather far behind in our Cosmos watching. As you may recall, I had to jump us through some hoops just to make it possible, using various forms of VPN on various devices. But we succeeded and had watched the first four episodes. And then various things came up, we got into bad habits, and missed several weeks. Well this weekend we decided to start catching up.
We started with Cecile’s computer, as it has a bigger screen. That’s the one we’ve been using with Hola in Chrome, a web-based VPN that had more or less worked for us before. But Hola also has issues, and in this case wouldn’t load and wouldn’t restart. So I went for the Macbook Air with OpenVPN through VPNBook.
Got into Hulu, got to Cosmos, found the episode we needed and clicked play … And got this message:
I mean really, there oughtta be a law. Oh, right, there is. Oops. Guess we’ll have to figure out a way to watch once we’re home.
At least MLB.TV works … oh, right, the Cardinals are playing fairly lousy baseball right now.
At least Amazon Prime still works.
And if anybody rats us out I’m coming after you.
