The Worm Turns: It’s not the VERNAL Equinox Down Here
Did You Want To Talk About the Weather?“I’ll give you a … prediction: It’s gonna be cold, it’s gonna be gray, and it’s gonna last you for the rest of your” stay in Chile.

OK, so we had our fun. It kept snowing up there and we had some beautiful sunny days, and hey, can you blame us for gloating a little? We dealt with most of that winter also, but we planned our escape. Now, however, we must hunker down and take what we had coming. Because while perusing my Facebook timeline today I saw lots of people celebrating the start of spring, but not one note of sympathy for we who are saying goodbye to summer and “welcoming” autumn. Only Neil Degrasse Tyson in my Twitter feed made mention of those of us who experienced the autumnal equinox today.
Well we knew it was coming. We knew the climate here (we have yet to have anything that I would call weather), and in the fall and winter, it’s still like San Francisco but without the marine layer burning off during the day. So while it’s finally warming up up there across the equator, down here we’re trying to acclimatize to highs in the 50s/low 60s and lows in the 40s/low 50s, maybe some rain and lots of clouds.
Actually, Cecile isn’t really trying. She came home today and said we need to get a heater.
